Automotive Matting

To most people, a floor mat is just a commodity. The thought of designing a floor mat seems simple; but in reality, the process of designing these mats helped me hone my skills in SolidWorks in ways I would have never thought a floor mat could take me. I soon realized if I could design a floor mat, and make it look interesting, I could design anything.

+ During my time with Remington I designed and developed  over 75 mats under the Rubbermaid, MotoMaster, Michelin, BFGoodrich,  and Roadwear brand.

Using Rubbermaid’s style guide I created a mat that was designed to release sent while in use. The scented mat was an automatic fit for the with the Rubbermaid brand.

When I joined the Remington team I took on the responsibility of updating their Rubbermaid mat line. Using Rubbermaid’s style guide I gave the mats a softer more elegant design which spoke more to the brand.

MotoMaster is a Canadian Tire brand. As one of Remington’s valued customers I created a line of mats just for this brand.  The mats were specifically designed to look rugged, have a raised border, and deep topography to trap liquids, mud, snow and debris.

The Michelin universal fit mats evolved over the years but always remained a constant brand that represented performance and durability, The All-weather rubber offers superior durability and stain resistance, and the anti-slip nib backing system helps hold the mat in place.
