The Go Clean was a project I worked on for Emerson Tool Company. The goal was to design a two gallon, wet-dry vacuum for use inside the home. Most wet dry vacuums up to this point were rugged and designed for outside use only. For this project I created a vacuum with a female flare to appeal to a different user group.

Concept Sketches

Once a final design was chosen the concept moved into CAD to further explore and develop. At this point I was able to finalize the overall look and feel.

CAD Drawings

The GoClean was designed to reach the female market, because of this, color played an important role in the design process. This color study explored multiple colors and the emotions felt when seeing these colors.

Lastly a prototype was created to test size, form, and function. For this project I used a urethane foam to create the model and finished it out with paint and accessories.

The goClean®   household   wet/dry   vac  was the  2007 WINNER  in  the  prestigious   Housewares   Design Awards (HDA).  The panel of judges was comprised of professional designers and retail buyers. They agreed that goClean exemplified a unique household product that looked great and worked well. Unlike other household design awards, the HDA thoroughly tested over 300 products in thirteen categories.  goClean was named the winner in the Floor Care Electrics category.

Vickie Matranga from the International Housewares Association states, “They loved the goClean product because it was portable, picked up water and had a nice aesthetic look compared to the typical shop-vac.
